Show Notes:

If you've never created a vision board before, you are in for a real treat. I held workshops for students in San Diego for the Elementary Institute of Science when I was living in CA, and I'll never forget the impact creating these had on those kids.

So, whether you've never heard of vision boards before or have created one every year and feel very comfortable leading your students through the process of creating them, let's talk about four reasons why vision boards may be an especially good choice in terms of a writing project to start the New Year in 2021.

Inside this episode, you will learn:

  •  Why vision boards can be especially helpful for students in terms of setting concrete, measurable goals.

  • How teaching children to future-pace can be a powerful tool for moving through low-grade depression.

  • Why creating your own vision board (and goals) can be an inspiring model for your students.

  • A practical way to share your own goals and dreams and open your students' eyes to possibilities they can't yet dream for themselves.

  • How to use vision boards to help students stay focused on their goals in the New Year.

  • Why using vision boards during parent-teacher interviews are a pragmatic way to share a snapshot of where students are - and where they want to be.

If you'd like to try using vision boards with your students this year, check out my writing unit on TpT by clicking the pic below.

Inside this resource, I provide you with all of the templates you'll need, and step-by-step lesson plans to make this a successful writing project with your students!
