Show Notes:
One of the most common complaints from teachers is the lack of time they have in the school day. With so much on your plates and the endless demands teaching has, it’s no wonder it’s a struggle. And while I can’t do anything about giving you more time in the school day, I can help you maximize the instructional time you currently have in your classroom.
I’ve said it many times before, but part of effective classroom management is your time management skills. Just like with most things, time management is a practice that will get better over time. One way to get better is by assessing moments throughout your school day that aren’t working for you and realizing you need to make a shift in the classroom. So, I’ve come up with some time-saving hacks that you can start using in your classroom.
In today’s episode, I’m sharing 8 ways you can start maximizing your instructional time throughout your school day. After assessing your areas of struggle, these time-saving hacks will give you more streamlined routines and a chance to slow down and keep the pace of your classroom flowing. By having everything streamlined, you will gain more instructional time, which means more student learning.
As you all know, I’m a big advocate for making small changes that make a big impact. So, by implementing time-saving hacks that maximize instructional time, you can do just that. Just remember that we’re all learners, and changes take time. Remember to stay flexible, adaptable, and gentle with yourself during this time of change. But once you are, you will see the benefits of having more instructional time in your classroom.
I hope this information is helpful as you prepare for your first, second, or third year of teaching. Until next time, remember, just because you're a beginning elementary teacher, there's no need for you to struggle like one.
