Show Notes:

You’ve spent four years at college in a teacher prep program but you still aren’t feeling prepared to handle all the non-academic tasks that come along with having your own classroom. You’re absolutely not alone! There is so much that goes into setting up a classroom, running a classroom, and effectively teaching your students, that there’s no way it can all be covered in four years. And unfortunately, the practical information about running a classroom alway seems to be what is left out.

Today I’m joined by one of my R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy students, Rebecca Stafford. Becca had an amazing student teaching experience and mentor teacher, and although she didn’t have a job offer yet, knew she needed to invest in herself to prepare for whichever teaching position she took. She invested in the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy because she did not want to be scrambling last minute to figure out everything she needed for her classroom and she knew how beneficial it would be to have someone walking her through all the little things that she may have forgotten.

Before enrolling in the academy, Becca realized that she needed support figuring out the practical details of running her classroom. After student teaching and subbing in various classrooms, she knew she wanted to ensure her classroom was set up in a way that flowed, her classroom library was organized in the most effective way, and that she had plenty of classroom management tools and tricks ready to use.

Becca shares what she took away from the course that helped her truly feel ready for her own classroom. After the academy, she felt confident in her classroom routines and procedures and walked away knowing how to model and teach them so they could be effectively implemented. Becca mentions that her favorite lesson in the academy was about how to add a touch of magic to the classroom in a way that makes learning, behaving, and being in your class fun for the students!

The R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy had such an incredible impact on Becca’s confidence and preparedness for her own classroom. I would love to help you feel the same as you walk into your classroom next year! The academy will walk you through the steps you need to feel READY to take on the school year!

Inside this week's show, you'll learn:
