Show Notes:

When you begin a new school year, there’s so much that you need to do that you can often feel overwhelmed which can lead to working too much and thoughts of self-doubt. But that mindset is not the way to start school. Instead, there are things you can do, such as gentle reminders and mindset shifts, to reframe your thinking with a positive mindset.

Before you’re able to settle into your routine, the first month of school can be a whirlwind. But even though stressors and other feelings creep up, there are tools you can implement to gain more confidence in yourself as a beginning teacher. Additionally, it’s important to remind yourself you’re not alone in your feelings of self-doubt and uncertainty.

Being able to change your mindset with these reminders means you begin to have balance in your life both at school and personally. Inside the Classroom Management Club, we have a mantra that correlates with this idea and also helps you gain perspective on the realistic expectations you have for yourself.

My goal for this podcast and my other resources are to help beginning teachers find their footing in the teaching profession that makes it sustainable and fun, and that starts within the first month of school. So whether you’re heading into your first year or any year after that, remember these beginning of the year reminders and mindset shifts for a more realistic, relaxing, and positive school year.

Inside this week's show, you'll learn:

  • How to navigate the first month of school with reminders and mindset shifts
  • Some ways SEL can be incorporated in your classroom and the benefits it has
  • The real standards you should teach and who it caters to
  • A challenge for teachers that helps you set boundaries
  • Ways the Classroom Management Club benefits new teachers and how you can use it to your advantage

I hope this information is helpful as you prepare for your first, second, or third year of teaching. Until next time, remember, just because you're a beginning elementary teacher, there's no need for you to struggle like one.
