How Walt Disney Would Manage Your Classroom - Part Three

Show Notes:

Today marks episode three in our three-part series on how Walt Disney would manage your classroom. In part one, we talked about creating a legendary layout in your classroom. In part two, we looked at how you can establish energizing expectations, rules, and routines for you and your students. Be sure to listen to those episodes before tuning into this one!

To wrap up this fun series, we’re focusing on the main reason why we all go to Disneyland in the first place. It’s something I love to call magic, love, and sunshine. It’s why we love Disneyland - it’s fun! We plan our trips with anticipation and excitement because we look forward to going.

You can foster this excitement in your classrooms too. We can learn from Walt Disney by creating our own magic and giving our students a reason to look forward to being at school every single day. But how?

First, think about Disney’s tagline, the happiest place on Earth. Why does that speak to our hearts so directly? It's because Disney intuitively knew something very special about the human spirit. He knew that at the heart of it all, the meaning of life is happiness.

So ultimately, whatever we can do in our classrooms to offer even just a sprinkle of joy into children's lives, hearts, and spirits, is what will drive your students to excel.

If you’re onboard to create this magic and joy for your students, but aren’t sure where to start, I’m here to help. I’m sharing the exact way that I brought magic into my classroom using a treasure chest and treasure map. Plus, I have ideas for you that will spark your imagination and help you to make your classroom the happiest place on Earth for your students.

It will give you a clear path forward for the next steps you need to take towards creating the classroom of your dreams!

Inside this week's show, you'll learn:

  • Four things Walt Disney does to create the magic in Disneyland.
  • An example of how I invited magic, love, and sunshine into my own classroom, and how you can too!
  • The importance of empowering your students by telling them that anything they dream of doing is possible.
  • How much storytelling can engage and inspire your students.
  • Three ideas to get your imagination going in order to create your own classroom magic.
