Show Notes:

We’ve been talking on the podcast lately about preparing for the new school year, especially as beginning teachers, and ways to feel ready when the school year begins. And one of the best ways to prepare is through the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy. It gives you step-by-step guides and courses to fully think through your procedures, routines, classroom management system, and so much more.

And while I’ve provided you with all the information you need to join, nothing beats the testimony of someone who has been in your shoes. Rebecca Stafford, from Chesapeake, Virginia, just finished her third year teaching first grade. She is a graduating member of the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy and has also embraced being in a new coaching and mentor role for new teachers in the Academy.

After her years in the classroom and being a part of the Academy, Becca is sharing what she’s learned about classroom management, what she’d do differently, the growth she’s made as a teacher, and the advice she’d give beginning teachers. Although it was a big cost upfront, Becca believes purchasing the Academy gave her so much confidence and clarity as she began her teaching career. She said getting the Academy while she was student teaching allowed her to get a jump start on trying out routines, procedures, and activities before implementing them in her own classroom.

I’ve shared before all the different items the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy can help you with, but there was one thing Becca struggled with, and the Academy prepared her for, which was implementing classroom routines and procedures. Having an opportunity to think through the flow and organization of her classroom helped her determine the most effective routines and procedures. By doing this, she said her students were able to understand and execute them for the whole year with little reminders.

It has always been my intention to create the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy program to benefit beginning teachers and veteran teachers who want a refresher on classroom management systems. I hope hearing about Becca’s experience and the success she’s had from purchasing the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy will give you the courage and confidence you need to feel ready and prepared to begin the school year as a beginning elementary teacher.

Inside this week's show, you'll learn:

  • Why it’s a good idea to get the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy while student teaching and the benefits it has in implementing the best practices
  • The different aspects that the Academy helps with and allows you to have more control over in the classroom
  • The three pieces of advice Becca would give to new teachers and how they impacted her first few years of teaching
  • The two most valuable parts of the Academy and how it helps you streamline and organize your classroom
  • Becca’s favorite thing about the Academy and how it can be used throughout your entire education career

I hope this information is helpful as you prepare for your first, second, or third year of teaching. Until next time, remember, just because you're a beginning elementary teacher, there's no need for you to struggle like one.
