Welcome to Part Three of our New Teacher Training Series! If you're getting ready for your first classroom (or are changing grades or schools), you're in the perfect place. Inside this special series, we discuss topics that new teachers ask the most about before setting up their own classrooms. As new teachers, it can be overwhelming to figure out which systems work best for you, what you actually need to buy (and what can wait), and so much more. I’ve done my best to take all your concerns and address them inside this series so buckle up my friend, this is going to be not only informative, but so much fun!

In all honesty, this series isn’t just for beginning teachers. I know as I taught over ten years in elementary, I was always changing, adjusting, and improving my systems, lessons, and activities year after year. So, if you've taught one year, two years, five years, or ten years, you will still benefit from this series, especially if you haven't implemented today’s topic in your classroom before now: class jobs.

When I was teaching elementary school, at first, the thought of class jobs seemed stressful, daunting, and way too much work for me. However, I quickly discovered that integrating class jobs actually helped take things off my plate and allowed students to feel trusted and empowered in my classroom. Additionally, class jobs helped me create the foundation of my self-learning classroom and gave my students ownership and a sense of empowerment because I trusted them to be responsible.

After years of experimenting with class jobs (and helping thousands of elementary teachers implement them in their classrooms), I know it can feel overwhelming to make decisions around which jobs you might want to start with. So in today’s episode, I’m sharing six class jobs that every classroom needs. 

I discuss how to easily implement each job in your classroom, the specific role your students need to play, and how each job will save you time and energy throughout your day. So if you’re ready to show your students you trust them while also helping you out, make sure you integrate these six class jobs into your classroom!
