Show Notes:
Happy New Year, my friends! I truly hope this year brings you joy, health, and happiness, and that you were able to unplug and take a break before starting the second half of the school year. If you’re anything like me, you want to plan ahead and be more prepared for things that are going to take place in the future.
With the 100th day of school coming up, I want to share some ideas that you can do to celebrate this milestone in the school year. Now, depending on how involved your school is or how far you want to take it, these ideas can be used throughout the day or woven into your week. Also, these ideas involve all subject areas and can be adapted to your already existing routines.
Celebrating the 100th day of school is fun! All of these activities that I share are engaging, interactive, can involve movement, are thought-provoking, and ask your students to be creative. While most of these ideas can be completed at school, I do want you to be aware that some preparation might need to be done by parents. So if that’s the case, make sure you give them advanced notice or have a backup plan for those students who need extra materials.
The second half of the school year can be stressful with preparing for standardized tests, but celebrating the 100th day of school can be fun and engaging for students. This can be a time when students can act silly or create something to commemorate the day. So even if your 100th day isn’t for a few weeks or another month, make sure you keep this episode in your back pocket and start brainstorming ideas to plan ahead!
I hope this information is helpful as you prepare for your first, second, or third year of teaching. Until next time, remember, just because you're a beginning elementary teacher, there's no need for you to struggle like one.
